When the part A is mixed with the part B it starts a series of chemical actions that turn the epoxy mixture from liquid or putty into a hard product. The amount of time you have to work with the epoxy before it begins to harden is base on a number of things. The biggest factors are temperature and volume of mixed epoxy (and there are also some "fast" or "slow" epoxies). With today's modern, solvent free, epoxies working time (called pot life) is usually about 20 minutes at normal temperatures. It decreases in warmer temperatures. This means you work in relatively small batches. Epoxies will harden into something that sort of like a medium hard plastic. Important things to keep in mind include: 1) the epoxy will continue to "cure" and get harder for about a week. 2) epoxies do not like UV rays (sunlight) and will turn yellow and slowly begin to breakdown in sunlight. Usually epoxies are painted over to block the sunlight.</font></P> <P align="left"> </P> <P align="left"><font size="5">Epoxies are popular because they provide good chemical resistance, block rust, form an air tight and water tight bond, provide a good bond to most surfaces, usually are solvent free, also work like a glue and/or sealer.
